‘Gay Panic’ and the Removal of Homophobic Laws

Murder is Murder

‘Gay Panic’ and ‘Homosexual Advance Defence’ (HAD) principles continue to be applied as legally acceptable defences, in which non-violent sexual advance is customarily assumed as aggression, thereby provoking a murderous response.

By citing the ‘Gay Panic’ Defence, perpetrators of homophobic acts and hate-related crime generally receive reduced sentences … only their removal will ensure fair and just sentencing and the safety of the GLBTI community.
