Be on the lookout for a Silver Nissan Pulsar Sedan — rego commences with “AU” – contact police 000 IMMEDIATELY
They were seen barricading Boomerang Rd with an old bed frame, slats and council sign… then drove to the top of the hill and waited in their vehicle, while another guy was sighted hiding in the bushes at the bottom of Boomerang Rd and Edith St.
The driver is described as being tall, thin with dark hair, approx. early 20’s. He has been identified as the same guy throwing eggs.
Their intentions are not clear, but keep your distance… they are extremely dangerous.
Police have been notified along with registration details.

The Star Observer reports on the homophobic violence at Braye Park with an article that insults men who have experienced homophobic violence.
Officers at Newcastle and Waratah Police were aware of escalating violence in the area – this was not an ‘isolated incident’… men have reported damage to property, egg-throwing, muggings, and homophobic violence – providing dates, times, registration details, etc., yet police responded by harassing men (in particular a homophobic blonde female officer with a foul mouth), and attempted to fine men for legally parking in the area… we also understand that investigations were hindered by the SGD Team (again), and a complaint is being prepared.
As for ACON and the AVP, they have ignored reports of homophobic violence in the Hunter area for a number of years (we can’t forget ACON Sydney and Hunter ignoring homophobic violence at Croudace Bay Park, and investigations being hindered by the SGD Team because the teen basher was related to a senior police officer at Newcastle Police).
ACON and the AVP are not trusted because of their cosy relationship and funding arrangements with NSW Police, their involvement in shutting down beats, and working with Councils to install signage that vilifies men… no wonder men refuse to report to them.
ACON has clearly failed the community and should not be trusted to speak on our behalf anymore.
Police play down crime fears after vicious assault at Newcastle beat
Local force can’t rule out homophobic link to assault but say city is safe for the LGBTI community
POLICE in Newcastle have told the Star Observer they believe an assault at a known beat, which left a man hospitalised, was an ‘isolated incident’ despite reports gangs are targeting gay men in the area.
A 39-year-old man admitted himself to hospital on Wednesday, October 22 after being assaulted in the early hours of the morning in a car park adjacent to Braye Park, in the suburb of Waratah.
The victim, who had suffered a flat tyre, said he was dazzled by a bright light possibly the head lights of a black ute which was in the car park at the time and was then struck by a ‘projectile’ that police have speculated could be a rock or similar blunt object.
He is now recovering from his injuries after having to undergo surgery from the attack.
Local media have reported recurring incidents whereby groups of young men have been targeting late night visitors to the park who are in turn fearful of speaking out in case their activities are revealed.
“I know of one friend who was assaulted by two young men who then stole his mobile phone and car keys before threatening to throw him off the cliff”, one man told the Newcastle Heraldon condition of anonymity.
Another person reported being ‘threatened by a guy carrying a samurai sword’ and the police don’t seem to want to do anything with it.
Talking to the Star Observer, Newcastle City Command Crime Manager Steve Laksa said police were taking the incident seriously but the investigation had been hampered by a lack of witnesses and the time it took for them to be notified, which may have led to evidence being removed from the crime scene.
Several other vehicles were in the car park at the time and Laksa appealed for any witnesses to contact the police or Crimestoppers. He said why they were at Braye Park was not of interest and privacy and confidentiality will be maintained.
While there was no direct evidence to suggest the incident was homophobic in nature Laksa said it couldn’t be ruled out as it is a known beat in the early hours of the morning so it is a potential motive.
“Crimes of this nature are always of concern but this appears to be an isolated incident,” he said.
“Compared to our local area [crime in the park is] really insignificant you could even call it a safe place.
“But I wouldn’t encourage people go there of a night, however, and you do have to have to maintain your personal security.
In the last 12 months, one robbery and three assaults had been reported in the vicinity of Braye Park and while police do patrol the area Laksa said: ‘We focus on areas of high violence and crime and that isn’t one.’
Over the last two years, non-domestic violent crime has fallen by 9.6 per cent in Newcastle, with Laksa saying there were no significant issues when it came to bias-related crime be that on the grounds of race or sexuality.
LGBTI health promotion body ACON confirmed they had been in discussions with local police following the incident.
Chief executive Nicolas Parkhill said while ACON had received no direct reports from community members about homophobic violence occurring in Braye Park, due to coverage in the local media about homophobic violence occurring at this location, we would advise people who use this area as a beat to exercise caution in order to ensure their safety.

A man reported that a group of young guys in a very late model blue Hilux were yelling abuse, and then followed him as he left the area.
POLICE BLAME VICTIMS
Why is it that police are always quick to blame the victim…
Despite having reported muggings, egg-throwing, damage to vehicles/property, and homophobic violence at Braye Park to Waratah and Newcastle Police — providing dates, times, registration details, etc… nothing has been done to address the continuing violence in the area.
Police have instead responded with increased harassment by a homophobic blonde officer, and attempts to fine men for legally parking in a public place.
It is widely regarded that police are involved, so it’s important to REPORT any police activity and harassment. No wonder the community does not trust police.
Gay bashing victims must come forward: police
POLICE have investigated only three attacks at renowned sex beat Braye Park in Waratah in the past year, prompting a plea for more victims to come forward.
Authorities and Braye Park users both believe there is a high percentage of attacks, which some claim are hate crimes by homophobic gangs, which are never reported because of fears from victims that their activities could be exposed.
But it has also left police with little to go on and no intelligence to increase patrols or specifically target areas such as Braye Park before assaults and robberies take place.
The Newcastle Herald revealed on Friday that gangs of young men have been preying on men who attend the public park for sex with strangers.
A man needed hospital treatment after being shot with an unknown projectile while he was standing near his car in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Park users have told the Herald that another man reported an assault on him hours before the man was shot.
That assault, and many others, have not been reported to police.
Newcastle City local area commander Superintendent John Gralton said his officers had investigated three incidents, including two assaults, in the past year.
He said there was some evidence that a group of four young people had been in the park when the incidents took place.
“The intelligence says it is not a hot spot,” Superintendent Gralton said.
“But we plead with anyone who is a victim to report it to us and report it to us quickly.”

Police investigate Braye Park shooting
Oct. 22, 2014, 5 p.m.
DETECTIVES are investigating why a man was shot as he stood next to his car near Braye Park at Waratah on Wednesday.
The man, aged in his 30s, has told police he was hit by an unknown projectile in the early morning, but drove home before he realised the extent of the injury.
An ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police would not confirm what part of his body he was shot and his injuries were not life-threatening.
A crime scene had been set up around Braye Park as Newcastle City detectives continued to investigate.

HOMOPHOBIC OFFICER ALERT
Sunday, August 16, 2014 – approx 12am
2 uniformed officers from Waratah Police Station – a homophobic blonde female and a male, were harassing men at the top of the hill and bottom carpark.
They were driving an unmarked black Commodore (registration noted), and were approaching and intimidating men in the area.
Please be careful, the blonde officer was behaving in a particularly aggressive and homophobic manner toward men. The male threatened to fine men parked at the top of the hill.
Further reports about this officer — after harassing a man, she yelled out “hope you’re not married!” — a man heard, ‘we can do whatever we want’ – and there are more reports since 2012 below.
Our understanding is that Senior Officers and Bureaucrats will not investigate the actions of this homophobic officer… it’s unacceptable that these actions would be tolerated and/or considered ‘acceptable behaviour’ by officers, this undermines trust and deeply entrenches homophobic values within NSW Police.
We also express our disappointment that police have not responded in an appropriate and/or professional manner to recent reports of bashings/muggings and egg throwers targeting men in the area.

Beware of the homophobic female police officer… she is making inappropriate and homophobic comments, and will intimidate you… we have raised this issue with Ch. Supt. Adney, who has failed to address this problematic and homophobic behaviour officers are also telling men it’s illegal to park on the hill – this is not true – signs indicate you have every right to park there, and you’re allowed to be in a public area at any time of the day.
if approached, the officer MUST provide their name, rank and station, and tell you the reason you’ve been approached officers MUST provide this information prior to asking for your identification. you’re allowed to ask for the officers details and why you’ve been approached if they fail to do so and you’re also allowed to ask why you’ve been questioned and asked to ‘move-on’.

It has been reported that at 1.50am on Sunday morning, July 31, a police vehicle was observed driving recklessly around the park and playground areas, tearing up the surrounding grassed areas, and harassing men.
I drove into Braye Park. when I reached the top of the hill, I saw that someone was driving all over the park. I stopped the car and got out to have a closer look, it was a police paddy wagon driving around the playground area. I got back in my car and drove around to the other side of the park, there was two cars parked there. I drove back around to see what was going on and the police paddy wagon was in front of me. The police paddy wagon drove around the wrong way at the top of the hill. I didn’t know what to do as the top of the hill is only one way, so I drove around the right way. Police drove past me and waited for me to exit, which I did. The police followed me down the road. I pulled over and the police kept driving. I took the rego of the police car (BD 55 QG). The next day, I went back to Braye Park to see the result of police driving over the park. I took many photos of the destruction by police early sunday morning.
